Man killed after rolling pickup on Costa Maya road

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — The driver of a truck that rolled died in a highway accident south of Tulum. The unidentified male driver was killed when his pickup rolled several times and landed against a tree.

Emergency services from the municipality of Tulum responded to the Saturday morning accident along a section of X-Hazil Sur-San Andrés road. Other motorists told police that the man lost control after hitting a mound of rocks.

Passing motorists stopped and tried to help the man, but were unable to since he was trapped in the crushed cab. Firemen were called in to use the jaws of life to free him. By the time he was freed, paramedics pronounced him dead.
