Man hit twice in Playa del Carmen shooting dies in hospital

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man who was shot Monday night in a Playa del Carmen subdivision has died. Staff from the General Hospital made the report of the death at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, after the man was admitted the night before.

He arrived at the hospital in an ambulance after being shot twice while in his car in a shopping plaza parking lot in Villas del Sol. He was shot at close range. One of the bullets hit him a leg and the other, in the stomach.

He was admitted to hospital Monday night and died early Tuesday morning.

Reports say 16 shell casings were lifted from the scene. Shortly afterward, three people were arrested after being found with a firearm, however, police have not said if they were related to the shooting.
