Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A subject who was driving a motorcycle while fleeing from police, died after crashing into a taxi.
The incident took place around 6:00 a.m. on avenida Lilis in the colonia Ejidal of Playa del Carmen when the driver of the bike, in an attempt to lose police, began driving without his lights. A taxi, who was in the middle of a U-turn, was unable to see the oncoming motorcycle, which crashed into his unit, killing its driver.
Police say they tried to stop the driver of the motorcycle, but he ignored them and instead, fled toward the irregular community of InHouse. Along the way, he turned off his lights and continued driving. Moments later, a taxi appeared on the roadway. In the midst of a U-turn, the bike hit the side of the unit.
