Cancun, Q.R. — Beachgoers outside a Cancun hotel called for help Thursday after witnessing a man being shot. The targeted shooting happened on the beach at kilometer 5.5 of Kukulcán Boulevard in the Cancun Hotel Zone.
Police and paramedics responded to the Thursday afternoon call. Upon arrival, medical personnel were unable to do anything for the male victim who was reportedly hit by a bullet in the back. Forensic Medical Services came to remove the body.
The deceased has only been identified as a man of approximately 35 years of age who was selling cigars on the beach. Witnesses have told police that it was a single person who fired the deadly shots before fleeing.
While police implemented a search operation, they came up empty handed. The State Attorney General’s Office says they have already started the corresponding investigation into the murder.
