Man captured with more than 500,000 fentanyl pills remains jailed

Cadereyta, Nuevo León — A man captured with more than 500,000 fentanyl pills is to remain imprisoned. On Thursday, the Public Ministry of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) in Nuevo León said Erick “A” will remain jailed after being arrested August 6.

According to the FGR, Erick “A” was taken into custody August 6 from a pickup truck he was driving on the Monterrey-Reynosa highway near the municipality of Cadereyta after being stopped for an inspection.

Inside the truck, authorities found a total of 523,383 pills made from fentanyl. Erick “S” was driving a truck with Tamaulipas license plates and was accompanied by another at the time of the inspection. That second person fled the scene and has not been captured.

Arresting officers found bagged narcotics that yielded a total weight of 52.3 kilos, the agency said. Erick “A” is facing possession and transporting charges. He remains in the State’s Penitentiary.
