Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A young man was taken into police custody over the weekend for attempting to steal a new public BiciPlaya bicycle from outside Solidaridad city hall.
The young man, who managed to ride away with the bike, was caught by police after they activated its GPS location. Municipal Police say they found the young man and city property bike Saturday morning at 4:46 a.m. along 40th Street in the Zazil-Ha neighborhood.
The incident was reported by the person in charge of the station who saw the young man with the bike and the Biciplaya logo.
Police say 23-year-old Cristian E.L. from Chiapas was arrested.
