Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Solidaridad authorities were tasked with a major clean up Friday after a single vehicle dump truck accident. The driver of the truck was transporting a load of gravel along the federal highway when he ended up in the central median.
According to the driver, he was forced to swerve in order to avoid colliding with a pickup truck that cut him off. The swerve landed him in the central median in a twisted heap.
Due to speed and the impact against the concrete median and highway infrastructure, his dump truck cab twisted from its bed, spilling the load of gravel onto the opposite lane.
The driver of the oversized dump truck was heading north at the time of the accident outside the Coraslo complex. He was not seriously injured.
Traffic was heavily congested for several hours while Playa del Carmen authorities dealt with the mess. Solidaridad firemen were brought in to help with clean up that left one southbound lane shut.
