Madrid adds more than 10,000 airline seats to Cancun, Cozumel

Cancun, Cozumel, Q.R. — State Governor Carlos Joaquín announced the addition of more than 10,000 seats on direct flights from Madrid to Cancun and 3,800 additional seats from Madrid to Cozumel via Evelop Airlines.

Carlos Joaquín says the new Madrid-Cozumel route will consist of nine flights during July, August and September. Ricardo Fernández of the Barceló Travel group confirmed the flights to Cozumel, calling it a strategic destination.

“We have been flying from Madrid to Cancun since 2013, and every year, we increase the frequencies. In 2020, we will have many successes,” he said.

The Secretary of Tourism Miguel Torruco Marqués inaugurated the Pavilion of Mexico in the area destined to the Latin American market with the presence of ambassadors, governors, secretaries of tourism, legislators and members of the tourism sector.

This year’s pavilion will see the promoting of Holbox, Isla Mujeres, Costa Mujeres, Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Riviera Maya and Tulum along with the state’s southern attractions of Bacalar, Mahahual, Chetumal, Maya Ka’an and the area that includes the municipalities of Felipe Carrillo Puerto and José María Morelos.

“It is one more effort to advance together in the promotion of our destinations, to attract new investments, create more sources of employment for the benefit of the people and endorse our leadership as a tourist jewel of Mexico,” said Governor Carlos Joaquin.
