Cancun, Q.R. — As of October 20, airline Lufthansa will resume its direct Vienna to Cancun flights. The airline says they are adding the flight as part of their winter itinerary.
According to the Lufthansa Group General Director for Mexico and Central America Alejandro Arias, the flight will be offered twice a week with the first being October 20.
Every Thursday and Sunday, Lufthansa will fly its Boeing 777-200 ER, with a capacity for 306, until April 30, 2023.
Lufthansa currently offers a daily Frankfurt – Mexico City connection and is working to bring back a Munich flight to Mexico. Arias says the airline wants to increase its presence in Mexico.
“We see Mexico not only as one more destination, but as a hub. We need connectivity with other cities, beyond Mexico City, to Latin American countries, and at the moment, AIFA does not offer us that connectivity that we need, so we are going to wait see how it develops later,” he explained.
During the winter, Lufthansa will also offer services to Newark (EWR), New York (JFK), Chicago O’ Hare (ORD), Washington Dulles (IAD) and Montreal (YUL).
