López Obrador announces new appointments in the nation’s security

Mexico City, Mexico — President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has announced two new appointments in the nation’s security. On Monday, López Obrador announced the appointment of Luis Rodríguez Bucio as Undersecretary of the Secretariat for Citizen Security and Protection.

Rodríguez Bucio assumes the position, replacing Ricardo Mejía Berdeja. Buico had been serving as Commander of the National Guard.

At the head of this corporation is David Córdova Campos. Campos was sworn in as the new Commander of the National Guard on Tuesday by Rosa Icela Rodríguez, the government’s Secretary of Security.

After the swearing-in ceremony, she said that the National Guard has contributed to reducing violence in various parts of the country then thanked the previous Commander, Rodríguez Bucio, for his role.
