Playa del Carmen, Q. R. — A local man has become the latest fatality after drowning off a Playa del Carmen beach Sunday evening. The unidentified man was reportedly with others consuming alcoholic beverages when he went swimming.
Lifeguards were notified of the incident after his body was seen floating off the public beach. The incident happened around 5:00 p.m. at Calle 2 and 4 in the city center.
Police were called who arrived with elements of the National Guard on 4×4 patrol units. The medical examiner removed the body after paramedics confirmed the death.
