Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man of alleged American nationality was found dead on a Playa del Carmen beach Wednesday. His body was discovered on a beach area at Calle 88 around 8:00 a.m. by police responding to the reports of gunfire.
The man, who was around 40, was found with a gun shot to his chest. Police were alerted to the sound of gunfire by nearby residents who made the report to emergency services. When they arrived, they found the now-deceased laying in the sand.
According to preliminary information, he was found with a gun in his hand. Although an investigation is underway, his death is being treated as a suicide. The man, who has not been publicly named, was reportedly involved in local real estate.
