José María Morelos, Q.R. — Four homes in two separate fires were burned in their entirety Tuesday. The two fires were reported at approximately the same time in different areas of the small Costa Maya community of José María Morelos.
The homes caught fire Tuesday night. One home began to burn in the residential area of San Antonio Tuk and the second in the San Juan neighborhood. Since the community lacks an equipped fire department, there was no way to extinguish the fast moving flames.
A total of four houses were completely burned between the two fires. Neighbors suspect the fires were intentionally set over a private land dispute.
