Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A home in Playa del Carmen was left completely gutted after an early morning fire. The fire occurred in the city’s Villas del Sol subdivision around 1:00 a.m. with neighbors making the report.
Emergency personnel responded to the call of a house fire on Pavo Real Avenue. Neighbors tried to extinguish the fire with buckets of water, but to no avail. Firefighters from the Villas del Sol station arrived only to find the structure completely engulfed in flames.
According to the owner Gregorio N, neighbors came to his home with the news that they saw a group of minors playing with pocket-sized fireworks, one of whom, threw lit bombitas toward the home, which caught fire. The kids then ran away.
No injuries were reported in the fire, only extensive material damage.
