Judge orders six arrested for extortion in Playa del Carmen to stay behind bars

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Six people who were arrested for extortion in Playa del Carmen will remain in preventative detention during their trial. A judge has ordered all six remain in jail as police continue with their investigation.

The five men and one woman were taken into police custody after they were reported for “allegedly sending a text message to the victim on July 17, demanding cash for “floor rights.” Days later, on August 2, his vehicle was attacked with firearm projectiles when he was parked at his home.”

In a press release, the Attorney General of Quintana Roo reports that while they were arrested for extortion, they are also being investigated for drug-related crimes in the municipality of Solidaridad.

The FGE reports Rosé “C”, Adán “R”, Rolando “L”, Marcelino “C”, Miguel “L” and Naomi “C” will remain imprisoned during their trial.
