Judge orders pair to remain jailed after being charged with PDC business extortion

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two men arrested for extortion in Playa del Carmen have been officially charged. The two men appeared in court after being arrested for extortion attempts against a Playa del Carmen restaurant owner.

According to the FGE of Quintana Roo, both Abraham “G” and Juan “V” made phone threats and appeared in person, demanding money from the business owner. They claimed to belong to a criminal group.

The FGE did not provide additional details regarding the extortion attempts. A judge has ordered both men to remain in jail during their trails, which are scheduled to start in mid-February.
