JetBlue starts new direct Puerto Rico to Cancun route

Cancun, Q.R. — JetBlue has started its new direct flights from Puerto Rico to Cancun. The new route, which was announced earlier this year, began operating October 28.

The three added direct flights per week are part of a plan to improve the company’s route network, JetBlue announced. In total, six new destinations from its base at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico were added.

The new destinations from Puerto Rico, which all began operating in October, are Providence, Westchester County, Santiago (Dominican Republic), Medellin (Colombia), Cancun (Mexico) and St. Croix (U.S. Virgin Islands).

With these new routes, JetBlue operates a total of 18 destinations from Puerto Rico, including an average of 40 daily departures from San Juan Airport.

“JetBlue has been a part of the Puerto Rican community for more than 20 years, and we are excited to deepen our roots with this expansion,” said Marty St. George, President of JetBlue.

Carlos Mercado Santiago, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company said this expansion of routes will generate an increased economic impact in its first year by adding 215,000 seats to the island’s inventory.

These new connections represent a step forward in the their strategy to strengthen Puerto Rico’s air accessibility, allowing for a greater arrival of visitors and direct connections with different markets.

As of October 28, JetBlue began operating its three new direct flights from San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport to Cancun International.
