Isla Mujeres Jetway ferry service stalled due to Amparo

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Administrative personnel from Jetway say they remain on dry ground and are unable to begin operating for Easter as hoped due to an Amparo granted to Ultramar. The Amparo was granted earlier this month after the Ultramar ferry company filed for the protection that would see Jetway able to work that route.

Since the Amparo, Jetway has been stranded, unable to begin operating the new Puerto Juárez-Isla Mujeres route, however, the company says they are confident of being able to solve “the problem” and in due time, begin operating.

The Amparo granted to Ultramar involves a concession entered into by the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT) during the Enrique Peña Nieto term as president.
