Isla Holbox nominated Best Island in North America by Condé Nast Traveler

Holbox, Q.R. — The Island of Holbox has been recognized as the best island in North America. The announcement was made by Condé Nast Traveler for their 2023 Reader’s Choice Awards.

Out of five islands nominated, Quintana Roo took three with Isla Mujeres being nominated third and the island of Cozumel coming in fifth. In second place behind Holbox were two Canadian islands. The island of Cape Briton, Nova Scotia was nominated as the second best in North American and in fourth, Vancouver Island, British Colombia.

Condé Nast Travelers voted three of Quintana Roo’s islands as the best in the world in the North American category. Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama highlighted that tourism workers make Quintana Roo a great destination for their high-quality services, which is added to the state’s gastronomy and natural beauties.

“Our people are what make us a tourism giant,” she said.

Condé Nast Traveler went on to list the best 20 resorts on the east coast of Mexico, all 20 of which were located in the state of Quintana Roo. They also listed the 10 best hotels in Mexico, two of which Hotel Bardo in Tulum and Casa de la Playa in the Riviera Maya, are located in Quintana Roo.
