Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An investigation into the death of a five year old Playa del Carmen girl is underway. Police began their investigation Saturday after the little girl died after being found unresponsive inside a washing machine.
Emergency services sent police to the Real Ibiza home around 7:20 p.m. in response to an emergency call. An ambulance also responded to the call. Paramedics arrived to find the child had already died.
According to preliminary information, the five year old girl was found inside an operating washing machine inside her home by a neighbor. The child’s mother noticed her daughter missing and was asking neighbors for help in finding her.
One of the women neighbors helping happened to look inside the operating washing machine where she found the little girl unconscious.
The washer barrel was filled with water and agitating. The child is believed to have drowned. An autopsy will determine the official cause of death. Police have not made a public statement on possible charges.
