Investigation open into shooting death of two Playa del Carmen security guards

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An investigation is underway into the death of two security guards killed in Playa del Carmen Saturday. Two men were shot to death Saturday morning inside a private subdivision with gunmen fleeing.

On Saturday, the Attorney General’s Office released a statement saying that aside from physical evidence collected, they are also utilizing video surveillance material.

They say several subjects are believed to have shot the two men on a local road where a security booth of a housing complex is located. The shooting happened at kilometer 307 along the federal Playa del Carmen-Puerto Morelos highway.

Criminal experts were on scene collecting evidence and conducting interviews. Footage from C4 cameras will also be analyzed to locate those responsible.

The bodies were transferred to the facilities of the Forensic Medical Service. The identities of the deceased have not been released. A possible motive for the attack remains unknown.
