Cancun, Q.R. — The advancement of Hurricane Dorian toward the United States caused at least 12 flights to be canceled to and from the Cancun International Airport Monday.
A report by ASUR says that the canceled flights included airlines Jet Blue, Spirit Airlines and Southwest, which affected nearly 2,000 passengers. The canceled flights affected flights to and from Fort Lauderdale, Dallas, Baltimore and New York.
Of the 12 canceled Monday, six were departures and six arrivals. On Sunday, Hurricane Dorian caused five cruise ships to change course, taking refuge on the island of Cozumel.
Hurricane Dorian is expected to approach Florida’s coast Tuesday night where evacuations were ordered for parts of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
