Hotel bartender killed crossing highway after leaving first night of new job

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An adult male became the latest victim of a highway pedestrian accident Saturday night outside Playa del Carmen. The body of the unidentified man was located by police in the far shoulder lane outside a Riviera Maya hotel.

The body was found by authorities deceased along the 307 federal highway after being reported by motorists around 8:00 p.m. The man was said to be crossing the poorly lit highway when he was struck by a company cargo truck.

Paramedics arrived at the scene who could do nothing more than pronounce the man. Preliminary information said the deceased was a bartender at the hotel. Hotel staff verified that they did not know the man personally since it was his first night on the job.
