Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Solidaridad officers were called to 15th Avenue in central Playa del Carmen Wednesday in response to a dead body. An area man, believed to have been homeless, was found dead on a residential sidewalk.
Police found the deceased man on Juan Escutia Street in the Nicte Ha neighborhood around 6:00 a.m. His body was seen by area residents and reported to police when the man failed to respond to attempts to wake him.
Personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office arrived to carry out the corresponding procedures, which included the removal of the body. Neighbors confirmed to police that he was well-known in the area and often slept in empty parks and buildings.
Authorities did not comment on a possible cause of death.
