Holbox, Q.R. — A Holbox man has been sentenced to 50 years for the 2020 killing of an island resident. On Sunday, the State Attorney General said Óscar Andrés “N”, alias “El Negro”, was sentenced to the maximum allowed in the 2020 murder.
According to authorities, Óscar Andrés “N” was found guilty of the crime of qualified homicide against a victim in events that occurred on October 15, 2020, on the island of Holbox.
“The now convicted man is Óscar Andrés “N”, alias “El Negro” who, on the night of October 14, 2020, saw the victim and another man outside a bar. At approximately 4:30 a.m. on October 15, the two men went to a palapa on the beach to sleep.
“The victim’s companion said Óscar Andrés “N” arrived at the place where they were sleeping and tried to put a rope around his neck, but he managed to get away. He tried to alert his friend who was already asleep by shouting, but he did not wake up.
“Óscar Andrés “N”, the now convicted man, pounced on him, strangling him with the rope and depriving him of his life.”
Following the evidence presented by police, the judge found Óscar Andrés “N” guilty of the crime of qualified homicide for which he handed a sentence with the maximum penalty of 50 years in prison.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of 260,640 pesos, plus 623,493 pesos for material reparation in addition to compensation for moral and comprehensive damages.
