Holbox, Q.R. — Hotel staff and island firemen were successful in extinguishing a Holbox palapa fire that happened Friday. Two areas of the same property were affected by the afternoon roof fire.
Firemen were at the scene of the fire reported at a hotel along Lisa and Pedro Joaquín Coldwell Streets where they arrived to find hotel staff armed with fire extinguishers. At least seven fire extinguishers were rounded up and used to try and control flames until the fire department arrived.
Guests inside the hotel were quickly evacuated while staff tried to contain the flames. The fire is reported to have started near the kitchen area due to an LP gas leak. The hotel lost its entire palapa rooftop.

Civil Protection personnel were at the scene working with firemen to determine the exact cause of the fire.
