Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The body of a security guard in uniform was located by police after reports from passing motorists. The body of the man was found on the shoulder of the highway in Cristo Rey around 8:30 a.m. by Municipal Police officers Sunday.
He had been shot twice. Initial reports said the body was that of a police officer due to his clothing and military style boots, however, identification revealed that he was an active security guard with a Playa del Carmen company.
His blue scooter was located near his body. A police search of the area revealed an abandoned vehicle they believe may be related to the murder.
