Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The life of a pedestrian was claimed over the weekend when a man was hit by a combi. The accident happened just before 10:00 p.m. Saturday night along the federal highway outside Playa del Carmen.
The young man, who was crossing the highway from a hotel, was hit by a combi from the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto municipality. It is believed he was a hotel employee, leaving his shift when he attempted to cross the highway. He was struck by the front left side of the unit. Reports say the driver of the combi fled the scene.
By the time the ambulance arrived, the unidentified man was found without vital signs.
Elements of the National Guard arrived to secure the combi.
