Guest pronounced dead on arrival after fainting inside Riviera Maya hotel pool

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A guest inside a Riviera Maya hotel died Monday after fainting while swimming in a pool. The man was found floating in an Xcaret hotel swimming pool by a guest who notified staff Monday night.

According to released information, the man was found with vital signs at which time on-site medial personnel attempted to stabilize him. An ambulance belonging to the hotel transferred the unconsciousness man to hospital, however, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

“The patient was transferred in a private ambulance belonging to the hotel to a hospital, accompanied by medical personnel who continued with the procedures during the journey,” the hotel reported.

“Despite efforts, upon arrival at the hospital, the death was confirmed after all corresponding maneuvers were exhausted.”

According to information provided by the hotel itself, the incident occurred while the guest was in one of the hotel’s swimming pools.

The hotel guest has been identified only as a 56-year-old Mexican tourist. The hotel stated that it remains in coordination with authorities.
