Cancun, Q.R. — International medical group Mayan Healthcare Design, has signed a $270 USD deal to build in Cancun. The deal was signed between Dr. Roberto Cervera and Governor Mara Lezama Tuesday during a meeting in Florida.
According to the agreement, Mayan Healthcare Design will develop a Premier Medical Destination Center (PMDC) in Cancun with specialized health services. The building will become the first major nearshoring project for medical services in southern Mexico.
“To attract global investment, boost nearshoring, and accelerate the state’s economic diversification, Governor Mara Lezama finalized a Memorandum of Understanding in Orlando, Florida, with Mayan Healthcare Design, an international medical group,” she reported.
The historic Memorandum was signed by Dr. Roberto Cervera, Co-President of the Mission Brain Council and representative of the medical group; also signed was the memorandum of understanding to establish the Mission Brain headquarters in Cancun and thereby promote research and development in advanced neurosurgery.
With an estimated investment of $270 million USD, Premier Medical Destination Center (PMDC) will strengthen medical tourism and generate a new economic cluster linked to specialized hospitals, medical device companies, pharmaceutical companies, laboratories, research centers and health sector supply chains, in addition to creating opportunities for local professionals and businesses.
“Today we have this agreement, this memorandum of understanding, with a very important investment, estimated at 270 million dollars, and we want to continue growing so that this hub becomes a success in the short, medium and long term,” said Governor Mara Lezama.
“This translates into shared prosperity, job creation, but well-paid jobs, world-class services, and a very significant economic impact,” she said.
The project includes areas such as neurosurgery, advanced nursing, biomedical engineering, research, clinical nutrition and health technologies, which will position Cancun as a new international hub for medical tourism and high specialty care.
As part of the alliance with Mayan Healthcare Design, it was proposed that Cancun host the headquarters of Mission Brain, an international foundation dedicated to bringing highly specialized neurosurgery, innovation and medical care to vulnerable populations, which will allow the promotion of scientific research, artificial intelligence, talent training, technology transfer and high social impact solutions.
Mission Brain was founded by Dr. Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa, recognized as a global leader in medical research, currently develops care, research and medical training projects in more than 25 countries.
This signing and agreement represents a strategic step to consolidate Quintana Roo as a hub of innovation in the health sector, by fostering collaboration between the government, international organizations and specialists in the development of technologies aimed at improving medical care and expanding access to quality services.
The Governor signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mayan Healthcare Design to develop Premier Medical Destination Center, a specialized center that will serve patients from the United States.
Another memorandum of understanding was also signed to establish the headquarters of Mission Brain in Cancun and thereby promote advanced neurosurgery.
