Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The Attorney General of the state says a total of four people have been arrested on charges of extortion. In a press release, the FGE says that on June 28, Jonathan A was taken into custody at the intersection of Colosio Avenue with Sian Kaan.
Jonathan A was detained after he was found leaving a handwritten extortion message to the detriment of a private individual. Police say he likely collaborates with a criminal group dedicated to extortion in Playa del Carmen since his phone number (9841418679), which was left on the handwritten message, is related to other extortion complaints.
A search carried out in a property on 80th Street of the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood located three others. Inside the home were Maribel M, Loymer C and Gilbero C, who were detained. Inside the home, police also located a weapon, ammunition, drugs and additional handwritten extortion messages.
