Hopkins, Belize — A group of Belize fishermen showed off their catch of the day Monday of a giant groper.
The 177 kilo fish was caught off the coast of Hopkins in Belize Sunday by the group of five.
The fish is reported to have been an Atlantic goliath grouper nearly two meters long and weighing in at 177 kilograms.
The catch was made near Hopkins, a Belizean coastal community located about four hours south of the Quintana Roo city of Chetumal.
The five men reportedly caught the grouper Sunday. The gear used to catch the fish and reel it in is unknown.

The fish is considered unusually large for the species, which is commonly found in Caribbean waters.
