Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A downtown grocery store has applied to have a public road closed for business parking. Chedraui off Third Ave and 45 North has asked the city for permission to convert the road, which consists of two lots, for private use.
According to city information, the street is the legal property of the municipality of Solidaridad. Registration folios 55129 and 55132 confirms that both sections are public property.
The city of Playa del Carmen has not responded to the request, which if granted, would see Calle 3 privatized and used for store parking. It is not known if the store would charge for parking if granted the request to privatize the lots.
