Graffiti painter repays debt to society by painting central Playa del Carmen wall

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man arrested for spray painting public property has been ordered to repay his debt to society by painting. The man, under police guard, was accompanied Wednesday to a section of concrete wall along CTM Avenue where he had spray painted graffiti.

The unidentified Playa del Carmen graffiti sprayer spent the day covering up his artwork that was deemed an administrative offence and resulted in his arrest. In a statement, the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) reported on the community services near Playa Mamitas.

“A person who committed an administrative offense was able to carry out community service to repair the damage caused by graffiti on CTM Avenue and Mamitas Beach.

“This is thanks to the coordinated work between the SSCM through its Tourist Police and the Area of Civic Justice and Human Coexistence, which together promote responsibility and respect for public spaces.

“You can also help by reporting acts that damage our municipality to 9-1-1 or by visiting our offices.”
