Costa Maya, Q.R. — More than 8,400 hectares of land has been earmarked for preservation by the federal government. On Monday, the Secretary of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu) published the information in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).
According to the publication, “an agreement to make available the surface corresponding to 8,451-61-96.55 hectares of Polígono 2 Bis, of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, of the Municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, State of Quintana Roo, in favor of the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP), through the Institute of Administration and Appraisals of National Assets (INDAABIN).”
The agreement grants the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (Conanp) to 8,451 hectares of the Biosphere Reserve from Sian Ka’an in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
The publication defines the borders as to the North: National Land. To the South: Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, Polygon 2. To the East: Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, Polygon 3. To the West: Ejido Chunyaxche.
The agreement will be forwarded to the Institute of Administration and Appraisals of National Assets (INDAABIN) for the official registration before the Public Registry of Federal Property.
