German ship Mein Schiff docks Costa Maya for first time

Mahahual, Q.R. — The Mein Schiff I of the German company Tui Cruises, docked in Costa Maya for the first time Saturday, carrying nearly 3,900 passengers and crew members.

The ship was received by captains of Puerto de Xcalak, Mahahual and Chetumal, Alberto Escobio Pérez, Catarino de León and Marcelo Herrera Zenen, respectively. The commander of the XI Naval Zone of Chetumal, Vice Admiral Eduardo Rojas Pineda, who, along with the captains of the port of Xcalak, Mahahual and Chetumal, took the Mein Schiff captain up on his invitation to tour the ship.

Mein Schiff I captain, Jens Alexander Troier, said a few words of welcome during a gift exchange after docking the massive 16-deck, 316-meter cruise liner at the Costa Maya port of Mahahual.

Mein Schiff, which means My Ship in German, made the Mahahual stop on its way to Belize as part of a 14-day round trip cruise around the Caribbean.
