Telchac Puerto, Yucatán — The Secretary of the Navy of Mexico reports the rescue of four people from waters off Telchac Puerto in the state of Yucatán.
They say the rescue took place near the town of Telchac Puerto, a town approximately 30 minutes from Progreso, after receiving a call of distress from a drifting vessel who had lost engine power. The Fifth Naval Region began a search and rescue operation after deploying from the Naval Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Station of Yukalpetén to locate the drifting Marcos II and its crew.
They reported finding Marcos II approximately 36 nautical miles north of Telchac Puerto with all four on board. The vessel was towed back to land with all crew members being reported in good health.
Earlier this week, four people were rescued from a drifting vessel off the island of Cozumel when their boat also experienced engine failure.
