Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Four workers of a fumigation company who were traveling in a truck were injured, two of them seriously, after crashing on federal highway 307.
The accident occurred around 9:00 a.m. near the Calica turn-off when the lane of the Nissan truck was invaded by another vehicle. In an attempt to avoid the vehicle, the driver of the truck turned the steering wheel, causing it to crash into the center ridge.
The truck ended up resting at the base of a streetlight, which was completely removed from its support and overturned, falling onto the highway and blocking opposite-lane traffic.
Four people were left with injuries, two of them seriously.
Federal Police arrived to deal with the accident site. Two ambulances also arrived to rush the two seriously injured men, the driver and front passenger of the truck, to hospital.
