Former coordinator for the Tax Administration Service (SAT) arrested for illicit enrichment

Xalapa, Veracruz — Agents from the Criminal Investigation Agency executed an arrest warrant against a former public servant for his alleged involvement in illicit enrichment. He is also accused of accepting a 15 million peso property as payment for an unfulfilled contract.

According to investigations, Héctor “N” held a public position within the Tax Administration Service (SAT) between 2011 and 2018. During that time, he allegedly committed criminal acts by unjustifiably increasing his assets.

He is also suspected of having received real estate as payment for a service contract that was never fulfilled.

According to information obtained by the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) and delivered to the Federal Judiciary (PJF) to obtain the arrest warrant, Franllutti Leasing Company allegedly gave Landa Cabrera a residence located in the Jardines del Pedregal neighborhood, in Mexico City, valued at more than 15 million pesos.

According to the investigation, the property was handed over as payment for a service contract that was never fulfilled.

Elements of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) developed investigation techniques, asset analysis, verification of addresses and intelligence work that allowed them to fulfill an arrest warrant against Hector “N”, for his possible participation in the crime of illicit enrichment.

This identification was made possible thanks to the prior work of the AIC staff, with the support of the Tax Administration Service (SAT) to obtain information that Héctor “N”, who between 2011 and 2018, held a public position in the SAT.

Authorities said he was arrested for “possibly committed acts constituting a crime by increasing his assets in an unjustified manner, and that he probably received a property as payment for a service contract that was not carried out.”

Based on the evidence obtained by AIC personnel, the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF) attached to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Corruption (FEMCC) requested and obtained from the judicial authority an arrest warrant against the aforementioned person.

Therefore, and as a result of fixed and mobile surveillance on different days and times, his presence was confirmed at a residence in the Felipe Carrillo Puerto neighborhood, municipality of Xalapa, Veracruz.

With the support of authorities from the Security Cabinet, a controlled operation was executed for his apprehension.

During the arrest, he was read the Rights of Persons in Detention Charter, guaranteeing due process and unrestricted respect for his human rights.

“The person mentioned in this statement is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent judicial authority,” the FGR (Attorney General of the Republic) reported.
