Cancun, Q.R. — Governor Mara Lezama has announced new routes and the return of air connections from Canada and the United States to the Cancun International Airport.
She says the flights are in addition to new domestic options as part of strengthening the tourist connectivity of Quintana Roo, the Vacation Capital of the World.
During the announcement, the Governor highlighted that the new operations expand the alternatives for those who visit the Mexican Caribbean and contribute to maintaining tourism as a generator of new opportunities and shared prosperity for Quintana Roo families.
Regarding new international connections, Porter Airlines will begin a route between Halifax, Nova Scotia and Cancun on December 18, with three weekly flights.
On December 19, Air Transat will also begin service between Windsor and Cancun, with one flight per week. Breeze Airways will also launch its Tampa-Cancun service that same day, with two flights per week.
By January 2027, Breeze Airways will add two more routes from the United States: Pittsburgh to Cancun, starting January 7, 2027 with three weekly flights, and Richmond-Cancun, starting January 8, with two weekly flights.
Mara Lezama highlighted that this latter connection represents the reinstatement of a route that had been suspended for more than 10 years and will now be a new service for Breeze.
Mara Lezama also reported on the return of various Canadian routes for the winter season. Air Canada will resume the Calgary-Cancun connection on December 11, with four weekly flights.
On December 16, Air Transat will resume the Fredericton-Cancun route, with one weekly flight. That same day, Flair Airlines will resume its connections from Edmonton and Montreal to Cancun, with three weekly flights from each city, while on December 17 the Calgary-Cancun route will return with the same airline, with four flights per week.
Regarding national connectivity, Governor Lezama announced that Viva Aerobus will link Acapulco with Cancun starting November 3, with two weekly flights. Volaris will also connect Cancun with Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, starting in December, with three flights per week.
This connectivity is the result of joint work with the airlines and the confidence that exists in Quintana Roo as one of the most important tourist destinations in the world.
“We continue to strengthen Quintana Roo’s connectivity so that more people can visit us and tourism can generate opportunities and shared prosperity for Quintana Roo families,” said Lezama.
