Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Early Tuesday, a dozing driver heading toward Playa del Carmen ended up rolling his car outside Paamul. Five people were injured after a tire made contact with the central median and crashed.
Emergency services from Solidaridad attended to the report of the accident by early morning motorists. According to preliminary information, the black Chevrolet Avanza flipped after making contact with the concrete median at highway speed.
The car was found upright on the other side of the highway in the opposite lane of traffic. Several ambulances were called to transfer those from inside the car to PDC hospital. Two of the five people involved in the accident were reported in serious condition.
Transit authorities did not report on how the 5:20 a.m. accident happened. The car was a complete write off.
