Zacatecas, Mexico — The Zacatecas Attorney General’s Office reported the arrest of three men in the kidnapping and murder of five youths. The kidnapping occurred on February 12 when the group were taken against their will.
Their bodies were located in various places throughout that week. The Zacatecas Prosecutor’s Office reported finding the last of the victims, Valeria Landeros, on February 18.
The state agency detailed that on the night of February 17 and early morning of February 18, elements of the Zacatecas Attorney General’s Office carried out a search warrant in a subdivision of Zacatecas derived from an anonymous 911 report.
From that report, the buried remains of a male and female were found and three men arrested. These latest arrests bring the total to five. Earlier in the week, one young man and one young woman were arrested in the kidnapping and subsequent murder of the five youths.
On Saturday, citizens marched to demand a stop to the violence that exists in their state.
