Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Four women and one man have been taken into police custody on charges of alleged child trafficking. The Attorney General of the State reported their arrests after inspecting a handicraft market along Fifth Avenue.
The market was a front where the accused advertised massage services. Police say at least one minor (under age person) was forced to have sexual relations with some clients.
While inside the premises, the minor was rescued and the five accused, taken into custody. Their arrests were the result of a complaint received by an agent of the Public Ministry.
Taken into police custody are Claudia H, Javier S, Manuela P, Teresa P and América V for the crime of human trafficking.
The underage person was transferred to a facility where specialists will provide the necessary assistance and support.
The detainees will be placed at the disposal of the judge who will determine their legal situation within the time limits established by law.
