Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen firemen rescued a dog and land turtle from inside a burning home Saturday. While putting out the fire, medical personnel treated the homeowner who fainted at the scene.
Emergency personnel were at the scene of the afternoon blaze that destroyed in the inside of the two level dwelling.
Firemen arrived at home in the Villamar II subdivision of Playa del Carmen around 3:30 p.m. after a neighbor reported seeing a burning curtain. By the time firemen arrived, the interior was fully engulfed in flames.
Although the fire was put out quickly, the home could not be saved. The local fire department confirmed the total loss of the home.
The SPC (Secretaría de Protección Civil, Prevención de Riesgos y Bomberos de Solidaridad) said “firefighters and operational elements responded to a fire in a house in Col. Villamar II, which resulted in the total loss of the property.
“They managed to rescue a dog and a turtle and the paramedic team provided first aid to the owner, who fainted.”
The official cause of the fire was not revealed in the SPC statement.
