Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Playa del Carmen maintenance worker was seriously injured after falling into an empty infiltration sewage sump Sunday. Solidaridad firemen were requested at the site to perform a vertical rescue of the fallen man.
According to early information, the accident happened Sunday morning in Phase 2 of Playacar in Playa del Carmen when the man fell approximately 10 meters.
Members of the fire Department carried out a rescue operation using specialized equipment to remove the worker from the bottom of the sump. After being extracted, the man was transferred to hospital in serious condition. He is reported to have suffered several fractures.
Authorities are investigating the official cause of the accident.
