El Tintal, Q.R. — A large brush fire was attended to by Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morelos firemen early Friday morning in the community of El Tintal. Flames were seen by nearby area residents around 5:00 a.m.
The head of the municipal Fire Department, Jesús Alejandro Erosa Betancourt, said that in order to control the fire, support units from Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morelos were requested.
Firemen fought back stubborn flames that were being fanned by wind gusts in the dry weeded area. Area residents who reported the fire were able to watch it spread from their homes.
Firemen were successful at getting it under control and preventing it from spreading even further before finally putting it out. A cause for the fire is not known.
