Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen firemen cut the driver of a vehicle free after he rolled and was left trapped. Emergency personnel were requested at the scene of the single vehicle accident around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on a section of the El Tintal highway.
Members of the fire department rescued the trapped man after he rolled near the toll booth that connects to the Mérida highway. The driver is alleged to have dozed at the wheel and swereved off the highway.
His SUV was found embedded deep in highway brush after rolling down an embankment. Passing motorists who saw the vehicle swerve called for help. The man was freed from his SUV and transported to Playa del Carmen hospital.
