Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Firefighters from Solidaridad rescued a person trapped inside a cargo truck that crashed on Playa del Carmen Boulevard. The accident happened approximately 10 kilometers south of the city of Playa del Carmen.
Emergency personnel were on site around 2:30 a.m. after receiving reports of the single vehicle crash. The driver left the highway and crashed into trees that crushed his cab, leaving him trapped behind the wheel.
Firefighters from Solidaridad arrived at the scene and, using urban rescue equipment, freed the driver. The man was subsequently rushed to hospital by a Municipal Civil Protection ambulance.
Authorities have not reported on what caused the driver to leave the highway.
