Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Firemen from the municipality of Solidaridad were able to put out a school fire before it spread. Playa del Carmen firefighters were called to the scene of the classroom blaze in central PDC early Saturday morning.
There, they faced a school room completely engulfed in fast moving flames. The fire happened at the Montessori School on 10th Avenue. Firemen reported that they were able to put it out before it spread to the rest of the school.
The school was empty of students and teachers at the time of the fire. Only material damage has been reported. Firemen did not speculate on a possible cause for the early morning blaze.
Civil Protection of Solidaridad said “the prompt reaction of the Fire Department prevented the fire that broke out in a school classroom from spreading.
“After receiving the report during the early hours of Saturday, the Fire Department went to the Montessori school on 10th Avenue, where they implemented offensive maneuvers to control and extinguish the fire, which prevented it from spreading to the adjacent classrooms. No injuries were reported, only material damage.”
