Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A fire partially consumed three central Playa del Carmen businesses Friday, causing serious structural damage. At least one of the businesses located along Juárez Avenue was destroyed by the early morning fire.
A preliminary report from Civil Protection says the fire started in Waldo’s and quickly spread next door to El Armario, causing significant damage to both. A majority of the interior of Waldo’s was consumed by flames. A third business, Infierno, also suffered damage.
Firemen were on scene to douse flames, while police blocked off traffic and Civil Protection dealt with on site gas tanks. Municipal Civil Protection operative deputy director indicated that so far, nothing indicates that the fire was intentional.
